"What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness." 7:20-22 ESV
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” (Matthew 6:24)
“But like a woman faithless to her lover, even so have you been faithless to Me.” (Jeremiah 3:20)
Unfaithfulness to God really has to do with having an excessive fondness for things of the world. In the Bible it is compared to the unfaithfulness of one’s spouse. Purify your hearts. It’s important as believers that we leave the worldly passions behind us. No turning back.
